Clear out your mailbox, on your terms
Choose by age, size or sender. You read the report first, and decide afterwards — messages go to your provider's trash, not into thin air.
How it works
- You set your criteria — age, size, sender, or several at once. They combine with "and".
- MailSync scans read-only — only headers are read (date, size, sender), never the contents of your messages.
- You read the report — how many messages, how much space, which folders, heaviest first.
- You confirm, or you don't — one click sends the matching messages to your provider's trash.
Why the trash, and not a folder of ours
The deduplicator moves messages into a MailSync/Doublons
folder, and that makes sense there: it's our judgement that decides a message is a duplicate. Here it's
different — the criteria are yours. You asked to get rid
of these messages, and the place meant for that already exists: your provider's trash.
You know how it behaves, your mail client knows how to show it, and it empties itself after the usual grace period. We never empty it ourselves: until then, everything is one click away from coming back. The trade-off is that space isn't freed immediately.
Folders left out of the scan
- Trash — we don't clean what's already sorted.
- Spam — your provider already handles it.
- Drafts — those are work in progress, not mail.
- Virtual folders — in Gmail, "All Mail" isn't a folder but a view over the whole mailbox. Touching it would mean touching everything.
The report shows the list of folders that were scanned and those that were left out, with the reason. You check the scope before you confirm.
Typical uses
- A quota that's full — "larger than 10 MB" is often enough to reclaim several gigabytes from a handful of messages.
- Years of notifications — "sender contains notification@" plus "older than 24 months" clears out what piled up.
- An old account to archive — back it up first with the backup tool, then slim the online mailbox.
- A migration to prepare — less volume to move means a faster transfer, often a free one.
What the tool doesn't do / limits
- It doesn't delete permanently — it moves to the trash, and never empties it.
- It doesn't read your message contents — the criteria only look at headers. No keyword search inside the body.
- It can't be scheduled — every pass is triggered by you, with a report to approve.
- It doesn't sort message by message — fine sorting happens through the criteria, up front, not by ticking boxes in the report.
- With no identifiable trash folder, it refuses to act — rather than invent a replacement.
Pricing
The scan and the report are free, with no account and no size limit. Moving is free up to 5 GB of messages processed; beyond that it costs €5.99 for this operation, or it's included with no limit in the Premium subscription. The threshold is about the volume processed: it's the same for everyone.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the messages go? +
To your provider's trash — the one you already know. We don't empty it: you keep your provider's usual grace period (often 30 days) to recover a message, and space is freed when it purges automatically.
Can I combine several criteria? +
Yes, and they combine with "and". "Older than 12 months" together with "larger than 5 MB" only keeps messages that are both over a year old and over 5 MB. One criterion is enough; at least one is required.
Do I see what will go before it goes? +
Yes. The scan touches nothing: it produces a report with how many messages match, how much space that represents, the breakdown per folder and a preview of the largest ones. Nothing moves until you confirm.
Are trash and spam cleaned too? +
No, deliberately. Trash, spam, drafts and virtual folders (such as Gmail's "All Mail") are left out of the scan. We don't clean what's already sorted, and we don't touch views that aren't real folders.
What if my mailbox has no trash folder? +
The tool tells you so in the report, before any confirmation, and refuses to act. It won't invent a replacement folder: we'd rather do nothing than move your messages somewhere you weren't expecting.
