How One-off sync works
This tool compares two mailboxes and tops each one up with what the other has, in a single pass. At the end, both contain the union of their messages. Useful when you have been using two addresses in parallel and want each to hold the full history.
Step by step
- 1 You enter the credentials for both mailboxes.
- 2 We list the messages on each side and spot which ones are missing on the other.
- 3 The missing ones are copied in both directions. A message already present is never copied again.
- 4 You follow the progress live, and an email tells you when it's done if you gave one.
What to put in each field
- First mailbox *
- Second mailbox **
- Get an email when it's done ***
* Address, password and server for the first mailbox. Order does not matter: copying goes both ways.
** The same details for the other mailbox.
*** Optional. Recommended if both mailboxes are large.
Good to know
- Nothing is ever deleted, on either side: the tool only adds.
- It's a single pass, not a continuous sync: if you delete a message afterwards, the deletion is not propagated.
- Messages are recognised by their own identity, not by their location: a message filed in a different folder on each side is not duplicated.
