Import your Outlook .pst archive into your mailbox
Your messages, your folders and their original dates, extracted from the archive and recreated in any IMAP mailbox. No Outlook needed, files deleted after the import.
How it works
- Get your .pst file — from Outlook: File → Open & Export → Import/Export → “Export to a file” → “Outlook Data File (.pst)”. Or locate an existing .pst archive on your disk.
- Upload the archive — up to 5 archives and 5 GB in total; .ost files are accepted too.
- Enter the destination mailbox credentials — address, password (or app password) and the IMAP server settings.
- Launch the import — MailSync extracts the messages from the archive and recreates them one by one in the mailbox.
- Find your folders back — the archive’s folder tree (Inbox, Sent Items, subfolders…) is recreated in the destination mailbox, with the original message dates.
Use cases
- Leaving Outlook or Exchange — you are switching providers and want your whole Outlook history in a regular IMAP mailbox, without reinstalling anything.
- Reviving an old archive — a .pst found on a disk or an old PC becomes readable again from any webmail, instead of requiring an installed copy of Outlook.
- Consolidating several archives — auto-archive .pst files accumulated over the years land in a single mailbox, each in its own folder.
- Making a company offboarding export usable — the .pst handed over by an IT department imports into the mailbox of your choice, folders included.
What the tool doesn’t do / limits
- Only emails are imported. Contacts, calendars and tasks inside the archive are skipped (their count is shown in the report) — for contacts and calendars, use the Contacts & calendars tool from the original account.
- Recoverable deleted items (Outlook’s “dumpster”) are not explored: what was deleted from the archive stays deleted.
- The free limit is 5 GB of archives per import, the same threshold as every other tool. Beyond that, the tool shows the one-off price, or the operation is included in Premium.

Frequently asked questions
Which archive formats are accepted? +
.pst files (Outlook export archives, ANSI and Unicode alike) and .ost files (the offline cache of an Exchange account). Up to 5 files and 5 GB in total per import. For .mbox or .eml files, use the regular import tool.
Are folders and dates preserved? +
Yes. The archive's folder tree is recreated in the destination mailbox, and every message keeps its original date — your 2015 archives won't show up dated today.
What about the contacts, calendars and tasks in the archive? +
They are not imported: an IMAP mailbox can only store emails. Their count is shown in the report so nothing disappears silently. To transfer contacts and calendars from a still-active account, use the Contacts & calendars tool.
How much does it cost? +
Free up to 5 GB of archives per import, the same threshold as every other tool. Beyond that, €5.99 incl. VAT one-off, or unlimited volume with Premium. The threshold is the same for everyone.
What happens to my files and credentials? +
The archive and the extracted messages are deleted from the server as soon as the import ends, success or failure. IMAP credentials are encrypted for the duration of the operation then wiped, and never transit through the file deposit host.
