How EML & MSG viewer works

Sometimes you receive a lone email file — an .eml forwarded by a colleague, or a .msg exported from Outlook — without the software to open it. This viewer displays it in your browser: sender, subject, date, message body and the list of attachments.

Step by step

  1. 1 You pick the file on your computer.
  2. 2 The message is read and presented in a readable form.
  3. 3 You view its contents and its attachments.

What to put in each field

  • Email file *

* An .eml file displays directly. .msg is a proprietary Outlook format: the viewer then tells you how to convert it to .eml, the simplest way being to drag it into a message and save that.

Good to know

  • Your file is not kept: it is read for display then erased.
  • No link in the message is followed and no remote image is loaded: opening a suspicious email here does not alert its sender.
