How Mailbox slimming works

A full mailbox is almost always down to attachments. This tool first collects them into an archive you download, then removes them from old messages while keeping the text, the subject and the sender. You keep the history of your exchanges, and you get the space back.

Step by step

  1. 1 You enter the mailbox credentials and the age from which to slim down.
  2. 2 We locate the relevant messages and their attachments, without modifying anything.
  3. 3 You download the attachment archive. That's your safety net: keep it before going further.
  4. 4 If you confirm, each message is rewritten without its attachments. The body of the message stays intact.

What to put in each field

  • Email address and password *
  • Older than (months) **
  • Attachments heavier than (MB) ***

* Those of the mailbox to slim down. App password required with Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo.

** We only slim messages older than this, so ongoing exchanges are left alone.

*** No point removing a 20 KB image: this threshold focuses the effort on what actually takes up space.

Good to know

  • The attachment archive is produced BEFORE any modification: nothing is removed before you can download it.
  • With Gmail, removing an attachment from a label does not free space: the message stays in “All Mail”. The tool warns you of this in its report.
  • If a message cannot be slimmed safely, it is left as it is.
