How IMAP & SMTP settings works

To set up a mailbox in a mail program, you need four details that providers often bury deep in their help pages: the incoming server, the outgoing server, and their ports. This tool gives them to you directly, provider by provider, and tells you when an app password is required.

Step by step

  1. 1 You pick your provider from the list, or enter your email address.
  2. 2 The settings appear: IMAP server for receiving, SMTP server for sending, ports and encryption type.
  3. 3 You copy them into your mail program, or into another MailSync tool.

What to put in each field

  • Your provider *

* Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, OVH, Free, Orange, SFR, iCloud, Infomaniak, Ionos, Gandi, Proton… If yours is missing, its server address is usually in their help pages under “IMAP”.

Good to know

  • No credentials are asked for: the tool connects to nothing.
