How Email deduplicator works

This tool finds messages that exist several times over in your mailbox — often the result of a migration or a botched sync. It starts by showing you a report: how many duplicates, and where. Nothing moves until you confirm. And even after you confirm, duplicates are not deleted: they are moved into a separate folder that you empty yourself once you feel reassured.

Step by step

  1. 1 You enter the credentials for the mailbox to examine.
  2. 2 We go through your folders read-only and compare the identity of each message. The bin and drafts are left aside: what you've already thrown away is none of our business.
  3. 3 You read the report: the groups of duplicates found, and which copy would be kept.
  4. 4 If you confirm, the surplus copies are moved into a dated folder. Your original message stays exactly where it was.

What to put in each field

  • Email address *
  • Password **
  • Incoming server (IMAP) ***

* The address of the mailbox to examine.

** The password for that mailbox, or its app password depending on the provider.

*** Detected automatically in most cases.

Good to know

  • No message is ever deleted — only moved, and only after you confirm.
  • The scan alone touches nothing: it opens your mailbox read-only.
